JOB DESCRIPTION :

 

Position Summary

Our Part-Time Digital Communications Manager will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of DMM’s social media presence. This role will also oversee email marketing campaigns for our brands. This role will require website, social media, and email copy review, as well as marketing collateral, newsletter, and blog development across various media.

 

Work Environment & Operations

The position operates virtually without a central office. However, our programs operate in various satellite locations throughout Washington D.C. The position may require up to 80% virtual work and up to 20% travel to engage in outreach events, recruitment efforts, public performances, site visits, etc. Expense reimbursements are available with appropriate documentation. Company communication is executed mostly through email and teleconference. This flexible part-time position may require up to 20 hours/week, including occasional evening and weekend availability.

Duties & Deliverables

The Part-Time Digital Communications Manager performs a wide range of duties including, but not limited to, the following:

 

Social Media & Online Marketing

Manages DMM’s social media campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other social media as needed, by overseeing graphic design, development, and posting of all content. Accounts include:

Monitors content on social media channels, and responds to, follower posts and messages in a timely fashion, when needed, with the proper information.

 

Updates, or suggests updates to Web Designer, DiverseMarkets Websites (at least monthly) with the latest email newsletter or sourced content from each department.

 

Collaborates with Director in the necessary content, story plans, for monthly marketing goals.

 

Utilizes organizational budget and leadership support to create successful marketing campaigns that directly influence target demographics.

 

Branding & Collateral

Protect, and manage the consistency and integrity of company’s brand voice.

 

Properly delineate organizational brand voices among DMM, Flea Market at Eastern Market, and Market / Farmers Market SW, Downtown Holiday Market, and other activities.

 

Create and manage brand systems for graphics administrators ensuring cohesive visual aesthetics within all marketing campaigns.

 

Collaborate on graphic creation and editing for virtual and hard copy formats.

 

Assist with the creation of auxiliary media materials, pitch, and sponsorship deck content.

 

Assist with the production and design of The Downtown Holiday Market Final Report .

 

Public Relations

Drafts and sends up to ten (10) press releases each year while maintaining Diverse Markets provided Media List.

 

Coordinates press opportunity logistics, in concert with internal and external stakeholders in an effort to grow regional media footprint.

 

Identifies new opportunities for DMM, its stakeholders, and leaders to tell our story as needed.

 

Email Marketing

Writes and edits email copy for segmented lists, across brands using Constant Contact account.

 

Writes and sends newsletters, with support from leadership.

 

Maintains and manages Constant Contact account.

 

General

Updates website with content, as needed and requested.

 

Manages communications tools, subscriptions, and accounts necessary to execute roles and responsibilities.

 

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, Design Software (Adobe Acrobat & Photoshop required), and Hootsuite. Graphic design, strategy, marketing analysis, copywriting/proofing, branding and public relations capabilities and entertainment marketing.

 

Works with other leaders in the organization to provide consistent external messaging for various audiences and demographics.

 

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Knowledge, skills, and abilities

Access to computer and telephone to accommodate daily business correspondence.

 

Bachelor's degree required; 3-5 years of experience managing and executing social media marketing campaigns across several communications channels.

 

3-5 years of design experience.

 

Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision due to the virtual operations of the organization.

 

Very strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Proficiency in the use of computers for:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Graphic Design Skills using Design Software (Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, etc)
  • WordPress and/or HTML
  • Hootsuite or other social scheduling tools
  • Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar & Meet)
  • Zoom, StreamYard
  • Web Browsers such as Google Chrome & Safari
  • Event Management Websites (Ticketing, Virtual Venues, Software Tools)
